Wedding Photographer – Grand Rapids Wedding Photography by Laura Gravelle Photography bio picture
  • the girl behind the camera

I LOVE taking pictures! Why? Life is full of so many small moments that are so easily forgotten. Photos give us the opportunity to freeze those moments in time and remember them forever.

I am a girl who feels truly blessed. My husband is my partner in life and together we have two incredible, amazing, sweet, fabulous (and beautiful - yes I know I'm biased!) children - Lily and Calvin. Even more, I have a job that feels more like recreation! My job description: Spend time building relationships with amazing clients and then capture their lives through my camera lens. How amazing is that?!?!?!

I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Basically, I love to shoot people. With my camera :)

I am a fan of Canon equipment and use the Canon 5D Mark II camera along with their line of L series lenses.

Dejong Family :: Grand Rapids Family Photography

This lovely family celebrated together this summer with a family reunion. Paul was college roommates with my husband and brother and was so kind to think of me for their family photography.

I love seeing the look of joy and pride on Jack and Terri’s faces as they gathered with all of their children and grandchildren. Sometimes I think about how that will be me someday! Lily and Calvin (and my future children!) will have their own families someday and we will have big family reunions together.

Family is a true gift from God.

Little Grace :: Grand Rapids Children’s Photography

Little Grace, you are full of energy and joy! This is my 3rd photo session with Grace, and it has been so fun to see how much she has grown between each session. Last December at her 1 year session, Grace was wobbling around as she was still learning to be proficient at walking. At her 15 month session, we quietly played in her room and snapped photos in her everyday setting. It was quite the opposite at this session! Her Mom and I were getting short of breath as we chased this little one around the grounds at Robinettes. This was a new and exciting place and she was determined to explore every last part of it!

I can’t wait to see what December holds for your 2 year photos!

Hallie & Gabbie

Gabbie was the lucky winner of my “Say Cheese” contest last month. Her parents got people to come out in swarms and vote for her photo. She won a complimentary portrait session and a $50 print credit. Her sister jumped in a few of the photos as well. They acted like little supermodels!

Mike & Katie :: Grand Rapids Wedding Photography

So I’ve found my new favorite wedding location! Just outside of South Haven, Michigan is The Blue Dress Barn. Everywhere I looked was a perfect photo op location. It was at this place that Mike and Katie said their vows to love each other ’til death do them part. After the wedding, the new Mr. and Mrs. re-located together to Denver, Colorado to start new jobs and build their new life together. I’m looking forward to joining you in the Mile High City in 2011!

Friday Favorites

Vacation…what a wonderful part of life! Every year, my entire family spends time together camping at Wilderness State Park near Mackinaw City, Michigan. This year we had four beachfront sites in a row for 2 weeks of bliss. Life is so simple when camping. Days are spent just relaxing on the beach, reading books, taking naps, enjoying our own happy hours…wait a minute, that was in my previous life! Camping with a 2 1/2 year old and 6 month old is not quite as simple. Actually, it is rather crazy! My kids loved every minute of it and I…well I loved almost every minute of it! Our days started with home made donuts from the Wilderness Park General Store (the best donuts ever!). Then we played on the beach and in the water until dinnertime. This year we added the fun of a boat and tubing. Our evenings were compromised of outdoor dinners, bike rides to get ice cream at the same general store, and s’mores around the bonfire. So that is why I had to hit the gym hard today! Now it is back to work and real life.

Not a bad view, huh! This gorgeous sunset happens almost every night at Wilderness.

On our way to the general store to get ice cream. Yum!

Lily’s favorite flavor is “white”

I risked waking them up by taking this picture, but it was a risk worth taking! These 2 babes love each other.

Kristin came home from Denver! Yay!

Cousin Love!

“Woo hoo! I love camping!”

My boys! Aren’t they so handsome!

Thank you Matt for buying the Spongebob pinanta. The kids let us know that apparently Spongebob poops candy! Who knew!

My tired little camping boy

Gotta love a shower at the campground!

I almost cried at the little one of your babies sleeping together. So priceless!

Jaxton :: Grand Rapids Childrens Photography

Jaxton, aka Jax, was so sweet in front of the camera! His eyes were sparkling and he usually had the cutest grin across his face. His mom jumped in a few of the photos too and the pictures show how much this little guy loves his mama! It was fun to see his hair get curlier by the minute from the high amount of humidity in the air. I can relate, well at least as a parent. Lily’s curly hair is the same way! Enjoy the photos of the adorable little guy!

Hayden (HD) :: Grand Rapids Childrens Photography

Some of our best friends, Dustin and Nicole, have a crazy cute little boy named Hayden. He is 1 1/2 years old. Little HD let me snap a few photos of him, and I must say, he looks pretty darn cute!
